About Sodium Bisulphite

  • Available as a 10% or 23% aqueous solution
  • Conforms to BS EN 12120:2013
  • Prepared by treating a solution of sodium hydroxide or sodium bicarbonate with sulphur dioxide
  • Sodium bisulphite is an effective reducing agent and can prevent oxidative corrosion
  • Wide range of applications including:
    – E222 additive
    – Excess chlorine removal in drinking water
    – Chemical synthesis
    – Bleaching agent
    – Removal of dissolved oxygen in steam boiler treatment
